*** UPDATED***Rankings 1/10/2013

This is the best I have thus far based on what I know. I don not think Southampton is going to make much of impact. They have Saquan Fenner at 120 should be good for 5th and thats about it. If more develops on them I will be sure to post what I think.

***Notes Added:  1/10/13-
  • Most of the question marks thus far are weight jockeying and a few MIA wrestlers.
  • Added a weight class synopsis below each weight.  Its meant for (COACHES)perspective so for any parents that have found there way here, take it for what it is: "Good reading".

106
1 Yarhoski Aldiva Easternview
2 DJ Ahalt Courtland
3 Ronnie Murphy Culpeper
4 Bryce Steadman Chancellor
forfeit Spotsylvania
forfeit King George
forfeit Caroline

Finding a human being 106 pounds is well, it is what is....DIFFICULT!  Aldiva and Ahalt are 2 little studs. I think they may have wrestled last night. Both of these boys have a better then average shot at punching through to the state tournament. Be nice if someone could post a note here letting me know the score.

113
1 Bryan Ramey Easternview
2 Douglas Palacios Courtland
3 Michael Shook Caroline
4 Joshua Turbyfill Chancellor
5 Matt Hall King George
6 Justin Kirby Culpeper
forfeit Spotsylvania

I haven't had a chance to see Ramey this year but it doesn't look like he has skipped a beat. I think Palacios has a shot to qualify for states.

120
1 Joe Cafierro Chancellor
2 Terry Evans Spotsylvania
3 Brett Shurina Easternview
4 Jawaun Powell Courtland
5 Kirk Hunter King George
6 Andrew McIntyre Culpeper
7 Mason Hall Caroline

Freshman Shurina may actually be the head of the class here. We don't know because we have yet to see him wrestle the big 2. Should be interesting. I expect the 3 will be close. Not sure how they compare to our southern counterparts as of now.

126
1 Nathaniel Aldiva Easternview
2 Tim Bailey Courtland
3 Jimmy McClure Caroline
4 Vinny Cafiero Chancellor
5 Trevor Smith King George
6 Joshua Miller Spotsylvania
7 ??? Culpeper

I think Aldiva has the potential to advance to state. Needs to bring it though.

132
1 Mark Weinstock Chancellor
2 Tony Pritt/Kevin Willems Easternview
3 David Counts Culpeper
4 Benjamin Crawford Caroline
5 Andy Snyder King George
6 Jon Hokenson Courtland
7 Dominic Cronin Spotsylvania

No weaknesses here. DEEP weight. Good kids will end up watching the state tournament. Heck, good kids will watch the regional tournament!

138
1 Austin Jenkins Easternview
2 Tristen King Courtland
3 Joe Kreider /Nate Garrette Chancellor
4 Tyler Frazier Culpeper
5 Shae Hazelwood King George
6 Nathaniel Haynes Spotsylvania
7 Josh Zelenick Caroline

Jenkins is battle tested and hungry. Could end up at 145 but won't matter as far as the District is concerned. With Jenkins here, King has an outside shot to qualify. With Jenkins at 145; King's odds go up considerably.

145
1 Jamie Lynch Easternview
2 Kirk Sweeney/Josh Stacy Spotsylvania
3 Bryson Howard King George
4 Luke Price Caroline
5 Nick Monetta Culpeper
6 Devin Burnley Chancellor
7 Jake Browder Courtland

I think we have room for one state qualifier based on what I've seen.

152
1 Alon Clipper King George
2 Brandon Layher/Alex Curnow Easternview
3 James Anderson Spotsylvania
4 JT Ganoe Chancellor
5 Halvorson/Gallahan Caroline
6 Thompson/Cheetum/Bobbitt Courtland
7 Samed Johnson Culpeper ??? 4th if so.

The south has two VERY BIG guns that will be very tough for our top two to beat. However after the top 2 bay rivers kids, our top 2 might be the best. One of our kids should make it; possibly two.

160
1 Logan Shurina Easternview
2 Zack Teeple Courtland
3 Dartagnan Dwyer Culpeper
4 Edward Whealon/Josh Thomas Spotsylvania
5 Ron Bell/Kyle Kraisser King George
6 Jacob Pugh Caroline
forfeit Chancellor

At first I thought Shurina might have made the cut to 152 but have backed off that thought now. 160 gives this young man a shot at the regional title and with determination, focus, and a little luck; deep penetration into the state tournament.

170
1 Jacob Tucker King George
2 Cody Vick Culpeper
3 Cody Kidd Caroline
4 Jacob Whittaker Courtland
5 Caleb Weaver Easternview
6 Zackary Mclaren/Josh Thomas Spotsylvania
forfeit Chancellor

The South has two very solid wrestlers. We have 3. Entry into the state tournament only invites 4. Somethings got to give. Tucker, Vick, or Kidd could easily win the District at 182 and qualify for state.

182
1 ???Austin Burnley Chancellor ???
2 Donald Harris-Smith Caroline
3 Brandon Henson Spotsylvania
4 Dmitri Dwyer Culpeper
5 Zach King King George
6 Mike Campos Easternview
7 Alex Simpson/Chris King Courtland

As this weight sits right now; its an uphill battle. The south has 1 very good wrestler and like us, a bunch of question marks.

195
1 Brandon Gallahan Chancellor
2 Jordan Miner Easternview
3 Aaron Teague Caroline
4 Bailey Hayes Culpeper
5 Scott Thacker Spotsylvania
6 Chris King Courtland
forfeit King George

I like Gallahan to do do big things. Miner and teague are both very tough but need to hunker down and focus. We have an outside shot to take all three.

220
1 Dakota Brackenridge Culpeper
2 Cullen Burnett Easternview
3 Neal Carter Caroline
4 Darious Roman/Joe Tyson Courtland
5 Conner Sullivan Chancellor
6 Michael Turner/Thomas Cambell Spotsylvania
forfeit King George

Guys I really am not sure what to expect here. Brackenridge and Burnett give us our best chances.

285
1 Shawn Saffy Courtland
2 James Layher Easternview
3 Seth Turner King George
4 Wyatt Carroll Culpeper
5 Cameron Whetzler Spotsylvania
6 Daronte Rollins Caroline
forfeit Chancellor

Our big boys tend to have a rough go at it. BTW, have Saffy and Layher squared off yet? The Bay Rivers still have some tough kids. Out top wrestlers are really going to have to bring there best efforts.
