Holiday Schedule(with follow up)

Eastern View will be traveling up to the "Willie Walthers" Tournament at James Wood High school.  I personally have been to this tournament in the past and can say that it brings a nice mix of styles to the table. Teams from different VA classes along with some WV will contend.

King George and newly added Spotsylvania will travel up to Stone Bridge in Loudoun County to take part in the "Bull Dog Inv."

Courtland and Culpeper already competed in the "Mountaineer Duals" at Madison County High School on the 23rd. There was a small write up but nothing worth blogging about.

Culpeper has a 2nd holiday tournament to attend. They will make a short trek over to Fauquier where they will compete in a very tough field at the "Fauquier Duals".

Caroline competed in the Atlee Duals in Richmond. There were very spotty results at best. From the best of my knowledge, they did not win any matches.

Eastern View finished as runner-up in the team standings out of 17 teams hailing from Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
The Cyclones placed seven out of its 11 wrestlers in the meet held in Winchester.
The following wrestlers place in the top four for Eastern View.

106: Bryan Ramey 3–1, second place; 126: Kevin Willems 3–1, second place; 138: Austin Jenkins 3–1, second place; 152: Logan Shurina 5–1, third place; 120: Nathaniel Aldiva 3–2, fourth place; 132: Tony Pritt 3–2, fourth place; 145: Jamey Lynch 3–2 , fourth place).

James Wood's smallest starter showed how tough he is as well Thursday. Eastern View's Brian Ramey needed just seven seconds to drop Woznak in the 106-pound final for a takedown. But when regulation was over, Ramey was still looking for another point in a match that was square at 2-2.

"I just had to keep on wrestling hard," said Woznak, the younger brother of former Colonels' girls' soccer star Cat Woznak. "I wasn't going to let that first takedown decide the match."

After a scoreless first overtime, Ramey chose the down position for the second overtime. Woznak and Ramey eventually wound up on the edge of the mat, and with two seconds left Woznak was credited with a two-point near fall after a tilt.

Ramey immediately escaped to make it 4-3 heading into the final 30-second overtime, but Woznak made that advantage hold up and was credited with a 5-3 win.
